Inc India*, flagship publication of 9.9 Media, announced its first list of India’s 100 Most Innovative Mid-Sized Companies. There were total 10 categories: Innovation in Branding & Communication, Innovation in Technology, Innovation in Responsible Business, Innovation in Product, Innovation in Manufacturing, Innovation in Marketing, Innovation in People Practices, Innovation in Corporate Governance, Innovation in Supply Chain and Innovation in Smart Money. Each innovation across the 10 categories of business functions was judged on four parameters: uniqueness of idea, replicability, scalability, and tangible business impact.
The awards recognize companies that have demonstrated a smart and fresh approach towards looking at business problems in a tough environment, and have come out successful. They are not only successful, but also serve as fascinating case studies of growing and managing companies in India.
The list of 100 companies has emerged after a four-month long nomination and evaluation campaign where we received 368 nominations. Each firm was allowed to nominate themselves in a maximum of three categories, but could only win in two out of those three after being vetted by our very capable jury.
Motif was adjudged winner under the “Innovation in Responsible Business” category. This category rewards businesses that are conscious of, and committed to improving, their impact on the environment and community around them, and are integrating responsible practices in the way they operate their businesses.

NASSCOM talks to Kaushal Mehta about the trends defining the Indian BPO industry and how companies can distinguish themselves in 2013.
Q: What would you say is the outlook for the BPO industry in 2013?
On the one hand we see the global economic outlook becoming a challenge and on the other we see companies who have invested in their consumer experience gaining market share and showing double digit growth. The outlook is bright for organisations investing in tools and processes to enhance the end customer experience and create process improvements for their clients. In this ever connected world, the customer has to be at the centre of the universe at all times. Product choices, ease of doing business, security assurances, post purchase experiences with customer service are all becoming key in today’s world, more so since so much business is being transacted on the Internet. BPO companies that are able to rise to this challenge will have tremendous opportunity to grow.

Amdavadis hit the city roads on Sunday for charity. More than 5,000 participated in the 11th annual Motif Charity Walk in which walkers completed five kilometers and runners coursed through ten kilometers on a circular route that started and ended at LD Engineering College ground. Participants covered Vijay Crossroads, Helmet Crossroads and IIM Crossroads along the way.
